What a Day...!

It's hard to believe, but we finally have Chien and Thang with us! There's never anything quite like the day you're handed your child, whether in a hospital, at an orphanage or anywhere else. To get two little guys after such a long journey, and a lot of unknowns, in as foreign a land as any we've encountered... well, it's pretty intense.

They are both doing great, considering their world has been turned completely upside down... but, the miracle of adoption, like the miracle of birth, is how quickly they bond and latch on. All of the kids are already playing and having fun together. Memere has been a lifesaver for us. And, we got through our first meal and now nap :-).

Here are some pictures of our first day together as a complete family (more photos in the two posts below this one):

  3. Amazing!!! Your picture made my year. What an incredible story. The twins look so comfortable as 'Sharples' -- like they've always been part of the family - a complete sense of belonging.

    Enjoy every minute. Esmee

  8. Beautiful. Your photos remind me of these words: "But now faith, hope, and love remain--these three. The greatest of these is love."

  9. I don't even know what to say! Karen and I are moved and elated for you all. The kids look terrific, like they've been with you since birth. Tell Yve she should start training them now while they're young because someday soon she's going to be REALLY outnumbered.
    love,
    karen and doug

  12. Hello, came across your blog and brought back alot of memories. Was looking at your adoption pictures and was amazed to see a picture of Dr. Hong. She also helped us adopt in Vietnam in 2002. Do you have any contact information for her. The email I had for her at the time and phone numbers no longer work. We have visited Vietnam a few times since but next time want to organise a reunion. My email is brian@click2go.ie and would be very grateful if you would make contact.
