Death of a Cardinal

The Cardinal of Vietnam (Cardinal Paul Joseph Pham Dinh Tung) died this past week and the funeral was held at Cathedral Square in Hanoi, a few blocks from our hotel... thousands of pilgrims in white bandannas were out to pay respects. The Vietnamese Communist Party cut off all ties to the Vatican when they took power in 1954, and the Cardinal is credited to working tirelessly to re-establish official relations, which looks like it may happen this year.   1. Hey Guys! Have not had any chance to comment yet, but the journey sounds amazing! The twins are great and you all look like one big (and I mean big) happy family! Living vicariously through you as we toil away in this sinking ship called the US economy! I am jealous.

  2. WOW! The amount of flowers that surrounded the catheedral must have been really cool! Was the whole city decroated in his honor or just the cathedral? Love, Lisa
